Abstract acrylic pouring with Dwight. My motto is: "Pouring with a Purpose"! I've learned a lot from fellow acrylic pouring artists as well as from trial and error. Every pour is a new experience for me! Keeping and sharing a video of my process and outcomes is an exciting way to hopefully inspire fellow artists. All of the paintings that you see on this channel are available for sale. You can email me directly for any additional information at dwightpours@yahoo.com. I am also available for commissioned work! Thank you for watching!
The importance of a focal point! Why I touch up my negative space! Abstract Art! Fluid Art! Tutorial?
A new painting today!
So, I have to sadly admit that the lighting in my studio combined with the painting laying flat doesn’t do it justice!
While it is soft and muted, there is a lot of interest and movement!
The importance of creating a focal point is something to pay attention to when creating art that you plan to show in a gallery! If there isn’t much of a focal point the painting can loose interest. Think about where the eyes will land and where they are pulled to. In my paintings it’s around the negative space, but can be a person, a tree, another object depending on the subject!
I enjoy touching up parts of the painting. Years ago I was afraid to touch the final product but trusted my intuition over time and confidence built in making the painting sharper and cleaner.
As a reminder…
My colander paints are all mixed the same..
1 part paint
2-3 parts floetrol
Drizzle of liquitex pouring medium
Water to thin
The black paint is mixed slightly differently…
1 part paint
4-5 parts floetrol
Drizzle of liquitex pouring medium
Water to thin
Remember, these are suggestions and a guide but don’t worry about being completely perfect in measuring. Just make sure all of your consistencies are the same! Don’t be afraid to add water!
Have a great weekend!

Take 2! Failed Pour? Acrylic Painting! Abstract Fluid Art!
Переглядів 45428 днів тому
Welcome back! Thanks to you all for watching my last video! So I decided to pour the paints differently today, but use the same colors that were in my last video! While overall I love the outcome, I do consider it a “failed pour” as I describe in the walkthrough. I will say I completely understand that you most likely will disagree with my assessment! But I’m a perfectionist! And at the time of...

Welcome back! As the title lines say, great cells! With…no extra additives! I’m thinking of my next video doing a little talk on how to get great cells without all the expensive additives. I gave up on then years ago and still get great cells for my colander pours as well as my Pearl pours. Would that be helpful? A friend suggested these colors and I’m very pleased! Lighted neutrals with done d...

Welcome back! Browns are my new favorite color…for some reason! lol I believe that artist loft soft body white is a so called “ cell activator”. And even more so when paired with floetrol! Especially with you thin the paints with water…the larger the canvas the better the results! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe, like and share! Dwight

New Paints! Colander Pour and Swirl! Abstract Fluid Art!

Hi friends, it’s been a while! I was ordering paints from Amazon and came across this brand, Gotideal. I used them in my video, Passion, and the cell integrity it produced was really nice and clean, no need for negative space clean up! I used a variety of colors and some o lightened with artist loft soft body white, which seems to enhance the cell production. Now, this type of pour is unique an...

Fantastic painting and great advice. It makes it so much easier to see how things are done. Thank you showing us. And tips on how to work out how much base paint and dump paint, im guessing amounts and either have way too much or not enought. Thanks again Dwight 😊
I love it! That is a great point that you made about having a focal point. I struggle with that!
Do colorful paintings sell faster than neutral paintings?
It depends…the more neutral seems to be more desirable for interior design…color is fine but something more monochromatic than bright is more appealing
Do you use paiintt with pouring medium is you clean it up ? Love all your work, Dwight ❤❤
Soo beautiful 😍 🤩 👌 ❣️
I have tried this technique many times and can not get it. Wonder if my top paint is to thick. How thin was your black? I am determined to get this down. Yours is beautiful. Thanks for tip of adding more color to the cells
Paints all have to be thinned, all the paints are the same consistency. If too thick nothing will happen except a few specks…it’s a process to make sure that you don’t use too much water as well
Superbe💪💪😍
I love how those colors came through. Gorgeous 😍
Thank you! 😊
This came out really well, I understand how lighting makes such a difference ! Nicely done 😊❣️
I never tire of watching the designs come out of your colander or the pearls form. All of these were beautiful!❤
Thank you I love this one!
🤍🖤🤍
I love how much negative space you put into your pieces…I live for negative space. 💙
🤍🖤🩶
Love this. Simple yet exquisite 🩵.
Love this color combo 🤎🩶💙.
Hello Dwight, have you ever tried replacing black negative space with white negative space? I would be very curious to see the result...
Yes, I’ve used red and blue too.. however white tends to make the colors more washed out.
Hey Dwight, Great work!!! I’ve been fooling around with ours, but I am very much a beginner! I am very impressed with your work!😊 Cynthia
Awesome, thank you!
Absolutely stunning!!
Is your dump black thicker or thinner
Wow… Dwight any idea how pearls came without satin enamel? You’d think it would turn out looking like just a regular pour. I’m kinda stumped. Very nice ❤.
I think most paints will cell when thinned enough and stretched enough, but I haven’t experimented with many different brands. I stick to the ones that work best for me. Artist loft soft body white has always been a big cell producer. Even when mixed with other paints to lighten them up.
@@dwightpours1261 Thanks so much for the lengthy explanation- super appreciate it. New sub 👋
Bravo. S I still have wishes and dreams of being able to do the technique😁
Hi there! All really excellent ❤️ I am curious to know how much total color paint amount you use on these 30”x40” canvases. ? It looks like your black is about 12 oz? 😊💕
Thanks..the colors in the colander I usually use about 44 ounces…either in 8 ounce cups or 4 ounce cups…the black paint is in a 24 ounce cup…remember you are dumping a lot off so you need more than enough to cover the canvas.
These are stunning 😊 love the colours. Can you please explain your tilting process so that you leave your negative space on the side central? 😊 I am watching but can't seem to figure it out 😜 thank you.
You can tilt in any direction, I just tend to tilt the same way each time. Just need to make sure all edges and corners are covered.
Trop trop beau 😍😍😍bravo 👏👏👏
❤love your paintings.
How have you been? Great I hope!!
💕 love this compilation and all your work! Bravo 🎉❤
Awesome work. Do you ever share your technique? ❤
All the time! Just watch my videos that are tutorials and subscribe if you’d like!
Like very much!
Crazy awesome!! 🎉 very nice!
Very nice!! Can you get the same reaction if you use a color other than black? Yellow or red possibly?
I’ve used red and blue before as well as white…white tends to wash out the colors, it’s a little more difficult to get a good result for some reason having to mix the colors differently
Yes I always enjoy and learn from you about different brands and colors and pouring order. I may go back and try throwing the paint like formerly done - welcome back ❣️😊
I swear, sometimes I think I know what I’m doing in the order that I’m pouring, but then it doesn’t turn out the way I envisioned. But still continues to amaze me!n
This is just incredible!!! You make this technique so easy - I’ve attempted several times but never successful. Thank you for sharing!!! 🌟🌟🌟
Trust me it’s taken a lot of practice…don’t give up!
I've missed your paintings!! and you of course!! LOL
I love how this turned out+
Thank you!
Magnifique 😌😍💪🇨🇭
Gorgeous 😊
Absolutely fascinating pearl pour and interesting information regarding the pouring media you’re using. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge Dwight👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️🙂
You are so welcome!

Congratulations it is amazing
That's amazing! I love it.
Thank you!
I just went to Deco Art and they don't offer satin enamel in pewter.
Oh no! Really! Maybe try extreme sheen silver options! Might work!
Awesome love, love ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate your tutorials, and I have used your recipe for a long time with good results so thank you.
Wonderful!
